12.1.1 Obtain Access to FABweb/Biennial Inventory Application
Policy Statement
Security access must be granted before accessing the Biennial Inventory application in FABweb.
Reason for the Policy
To define steps needed to request access and assign roles for the FABweb and Biennial Inventory applications.
Applicability of the Policy
All unit assigned equipment management related roles for FABweb and Biennial Inventory, except for the limited Unit Specialist role in Biennial Inventory assigned through the Biennial Inventory application itself by the Biennial Inventory Unit Contact role. These roles include:
- FABweb—Unit Rep
- FABweb—Approver
- Biennial—Unit Contact
- Biennial—Unit Head
Procedure
To obtain access to FABweb or the Biennial Inventory application:
- Go to the FABweb application and try to log on. Employees without authorization will see the Request Authorization page with instructions to contact the unit’s Unit Security Contact (USC).
- The key unit roles of FABweb—Unit Rep and Biennial—Unit Contact require the individual to be assigned to have completed the associated role certification course available on-line. Ensure the certification course is completed by the individual before attempting to assign these roles. Roles will not otherwise be assignable by the USC. Role assignment for these same key unit roles is also limited based on the required segregation of duties of these roles with unit purchasing roles as outlined in 9.1.2 Internal Controls Role Combination. For staffers impacted by this policy, please review 9.1.2 Internal Controls Role Combination for additional procedures and guidance.
